Beam SC375 Serenity Central Vacuum Cleaner
Beam's most popular central vacuum power unit is the SC375 with its 650 air watt motor, and as of 2019 this unit is manufactured in Canada. This unit is capable of cleaning homes up to 7000 square feet and will do a great job in any home under that size. The Beam air watt motors use tapered fans which drastically increase the air flow. This means that they will clean your hardwood and bare floor much quicker because you won't have to go over the same spot over and over. All Beam Classic and Serenity models have soft start motors which helps prevent premature wear as they start with ease. A large bagless 15 litre dirt receptacle easily twists off for emptying. Embedded in the receptacle is Alphasan, an antibacterial agent designed to minimize odours.
Like all Beam Central Vacuum Power Units this model carries a lifetime warranty on its permanent filter. Yes, no more replacing or having to clean dirty vacuum filters. This is only possible because of the Gore Technologies™ HEPA CleanStream™ filter. From the developers of Gore Tex™, this filter is designed maintain proper airflow throughout its lifetime. For convenience, there is a utility inlet built right in to the front of the canister. This makes it easy to plug right into the can for cleaning out the car or truck if the vacuum is installed in the garage.
The Beam Serenity power units are designed to run much quieter with its Quiet Pak™ sound insulation system. A Sound-Off Muffler™ is mounted to the exhaust to silence the air turbulence coming out of the machine which drastically reduces excessive noise. Also, surrounding the motor is a sound insulation wrap and carbon filter for better air quality around the unit.

I love this Central Vac system! It was easy to install and is way quieter than I thought it would be for how powerful it is!

Just installed one. 5
Posted by John on 12th Jan 2019
I just installed my Beam 375A to replace an ancient Air Stream system. Now I do not enjoy vacuuming but neither do I enjoy living in a pile of filth (which apparently my family doesn’t mind), so I end up doing the heavy vacuuming. Anyway, installed this puppy with no real problems except the old inlets were not always enough to trigger the system, so they all got replaced too. Before this vacuum I had always wondered why vacuums had a suction control on them. Why wouldn’t you run them at 100%? In case you wanted to leave some dirt for the next time? Well this Beam is different; at 100% it could probably suck the spots off a dalmatian (note to PETA: I did not actually try this). Also, this vacuum adjusts the suction level by changing the motor speed, not using an air bypass like the cheaper models. So, when I’m using the power head you can hear it start to dig in as you crank up the power. I’m a kind of go big or go home guy, so I do often run it at 100%, but that can make the power head hard to push, if you have it on a lower height on carpeting. I don’t mind, I’m tough. This scenario pulled a LOT of dirt out of the carpets, so I was surprised to read in the manual that you only need to empty the canister “2 or 3 times a year”. Well not at my house. The motor has a “soft on/off” feature which means it speeds up and down slowly. This is supposed to make the motor and electronics last longer, but it means you have to wait a couple seconds after turning it on before you can start cleaning. I was also intrigued by the claim “self cleaning filter”. That would be great, I hate cleaning the filter. I had images of cats that lick themselves off when they are done their business. Well, this self-cleaning doesn’t work that way. The filter bag has a weight in it and gets sucked up into the motor area when the power is on. The theory is that when the power is off, the weight falls down and shakes the dirt off the bag. Cool idea, but does it work? Sadly, not that well. There’s still a thick coat of fine dust on the filter and you have to be very careful when removing the bucket or you will knock a pile of dust all over the place. It’s pretty tough to get the bucket off without leaving a mess. You would think that Beam could have added a little handle to shake the filter off before opening the vacuum. They do recommend removing the bucket and then putting a garbage bag around the bottom and then shaking the filter clean from outside the garbage bag. This works pretty well and the filter does come reasonable clean. It comes with a “utility port” on the front so you can plug in the hose right there if you need to clean something up near the vacuum unit, like after you have emptied the dirt bucket. Be advised that this port may have a pile of dust behind it that will pour out when you open it. I turn on the power before opening it and open it as the motor is speeding up to suck the dust in. I vented my unit outside the house (it is in the basement). This makes it very quiet and I can still hear the kids nagging me while I’m vacuuming. I guess you win some you lose some. Overall, it’s a good unit.

Bravo ! Very good vacuum, relatively quiet and very powerful (400 m2 house). McHardy's service is EXCELLENT - after a small problem on the first vacuum, I only had to send one email and I received a new model only a few days later (and a prepaid return label for the return of the defective product). Bravo !

I ordered this unit online to replace a very old Broan. The unit arrived 2 days after I placed the order, preceded by helpful emails from Mchardys to allow me to track the shipment. Installation was easy although modifying the piping was tedious - the inlet on the Beam is 4 inches lower and 2 inches further to the rear than the Broan it replaced. I had a couple of questions during the installation and Rebecca at Mchardys was most helpful in clarifying the situation. The Beam is relatively very quiet and has plenty of suction to drive the tools we attach to the hose. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase and the service from Mchardys.

I would be pleased to give my recommendation to the McHardy Vacuum team who put my recent purchase order together. From the moment I called in, everything went very smoothly. I was pleased with the knowledgeable and efficient staff. My order was received in only 2 days which was very much appreciated at this time of year. I received prompt e-mails with my complete order and tracking information. I would not hesitate to contact McHardy Vacuum for any future needs.

Easy Upgrade, Great Value 5

The Beam 375A replaces a 30 year old Air Stream unit with failed bearings. The price was attractive and online shopping made it easy to buy the Beam. Delivery was very prompt. Installation was a simple matter of a minor modification to the existing tubing and switching the intake from left to right as detailed in the instructions. The unit works great with lots of suction. We are very pleased with it.

This vacuum replaced a Hoover Central vacuum that served me for 15 years. The Hoover can not compare to the new Beam 375A. Suction for the Beam is considerably stronger and the machine is a lot quieter. Installation was very simple and basically just fit where the old Hoover was. Great value considering the sale price at McHardy was $100 less then the sale price at my local vacuum store. Highly recommend this machine to one and all,
